Values
I value my family. If it weren’t for them, I probably would not be here at LC. I also value my time. I know that part of being here is to graduate with a degree in something, which requires doing homework. However, I do not like doing homework; I feel I spend a lot of time doing homework that sometimes has no meaning to me other than understanding it. I do not want to waste a lot of time with homework and have no time for myself or for friends, thus time management.
Priorities
Waking up on time is a priority for me because I know that I could easily sleep over, which could result in me being late or missing class. Food is also another priority because without it I tend to think more about food than my work. My friends are also a priority for me. They help me to relax from classes and homework. They also offer to help me with my homework sometimes. Homework is definite priority. It is not necessarily my top priority, but it is there. It is a priority because it helps keep my GPA up. Without it, my grades probably would not be as high because homework is only a part of my final grade. Homework is also a way of studying.
Educational Plans
My educational plans for the year are to try to maintain at least a 3.0 GPA and figure out my major. As of now, I am undeclared. In the meantime, I plan to maintain that GPA by balancing my personal, social, and educational life. I have to take the time to learn how to study and do my work. Procrastination is a huge problem of mine, so I have to take responsibility and “put first things first.” I have looked through the undergraduate catalog and highlighted some majors I think I may be interested in. Hopefully, I will have a major decided by the end of the year. After I choose my major, I will eventually take the required classes for that major. If I find that I will not have all my credits in time, I may take some classes over the summer.
Professional Goals
When I graduate from Lynchburg College, I hope to obtain a career in business and marketing. In order to achieve this, I will finish up my general education requirements first, and then pursue my business and marketing courses. I will mix and match all of my courses together so I will not be overwhelmed by the amount of business classes. I may go to graduate school and get my master’s in business and marketing. I will take any internships that pertain to business and/or marketing, such as advertising.
